The Great Ocean Drive and birthday party!

We are back in mainland Australia and have driven the Great Ocean Road. At the moment we are in Adelaide.

We have spent quite a few hours in the car with some stops here and there to play.

The other day we stopped Kennett and saw Koalas up in the trees. They are great little animals! So pretty! When we walked around looking up the trees we spotted some parakeets and suddenly, they were landing on top of us! Henry had one on his head, I had two and Stephen had a few. It was strange to have these wild birds all over us. They lost all interest when they realized that there was no food around.

The day after that, we drove on and we saw people stopping along the road and there were koalas up there to. At one stop we saw a whole family, a mum, a dad and a little tiny baby. We even saw the mum climbed over to the tree where the baby was sitting, and the baby climbed on top of her.

We have also seen Emus. Which I thought was crazy cool because I didn’t think they just wandered around, I thought they only lived in zoos and farms. So, we missed the first two because I thought they were statues! They were standing nicely on the hill next to the road and Stephen said look! I just nodded and said yes nice. Stephen then said take a picture. At that moment they moved, and I realized that they were alive! But it was too late for the picture as we had passed them by them.

One day we drove past the Twelve Apostles, they were pretty amazing! But it was cold and there were a lot of people there! We also stopped at London Bridge and one other stone formation but only Stephen went to see them while me and Henry stayed in the car.

Henry had his fourth birthday yesterday. I can’t believe that he is that old. We had collected a few presents for him along the way and I bought wrapping paper, a cake, a candle that said 4 and balloons.  In the morning while he opened all his presents we had a song and cake and all day he told everyone that he was four years old.

We have also stopped at a few caves, spotted kangaroos along the way and today we made a quick stop to go to Pelican lookout and there were so many pelicans that it was crazy. Not close though.

Australia has been great so far and tomorrow we are going to Kangaroo Island and we are very excited!

Henry doesn't really like cake so he only had one bite, Stephen shouldn't really eat wheat and I am trying not to eat too much cakes etc at the moment so between us we didn't do very well.
