Today we went on a helicopter. They told us when we checked in that they had bad news and we thought that the helicopter ride was cancelled. But luckily it wasn’t, it was just that they couldn’t go all the way up to the top of the mountain- it was too windy.
We went for a 30 min helicopter ride up to the glacier, landed, had a play in the snow and then flew back down again.
It was really nice and Henry stayed awake the whole time this time.
After that we went for a walk because it was a glorious sunny day. We went for a 2km hike to a lake, had some hot chocolate and a nanny biscuit (shortbread) and then hiked 2km back to the car.
Henry was so good today he walked nearly the whole way! He was a nightmare going to sleep last night so I thought he was going to be really tired and whingy today but he has had one of his better days.
When we got back be quickly changed and went to the hot pools that they had across the street. It was so lovely. Three different pools, 36,38 and 40 degrees. Nice.
We have just had some dinner and it is sleepy time again. The days goes so quickly! We are halfway done here in New Zealand. Then it is Australia and it feels like we are nearly finished this adventure. When we planned it, it felt like we had so much time, but now five months down the line I wish we could keep going for a second lap.
Oh well that is another adventure maybe just me and Stephen when we are old and grey.
