Henry and I did some horse riding in Sorrel yesterday. It was so nice. I had a private ride with one of the wranglers up in the canyon behind the ranch. It took two hours and it was so windy. The horses were well looked after and very excited to be out. Henry had a pony ride around the ranch on a pony called shorty which we all thought was funny as Henry is so short.
On the way home, we stopped at a Dinosaur Park called Moab’s Giants. It was a wonderful place. It had all the models in actual size on a trail around the park. Henry was very excited and he was a bit hesitant to touch them until he realised they weren’t real. We also watched a film in 3D about how the dinosaurs came to be on earth. I would recommend going there even if you don’t have kids as it is pretty cool.
Later on, we went to Dead Horse Canyon State Park, but it was so windy so me and Henry stayed in the car whilst Stephen went to look at the view. We made a second stop at Canyonland National Park where we all had a walk. There is an arch in the rocks there which is beautiful.
We went back to the hotel, washed the car on the way as it was so dirty that we couldn’t see out of the back window. Changed our clothes, had a wash and went out for dinner at an American diner.
This morning Stephen and Henry left me sleeping and went hiking at Arches National Park, where they had their breakfast. They came home just as I woke up. Henry said it was so cold mummy! It was only 12 degrees when they went out, luckily it had warmed up when we all left later. We stopped at Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail to look at real dinosaur tracks that were left millions of years before. It was impressive to see because they were so clear. Henry was impressed.
We are in the car again now all packed up and on our way to Beaver. (Stephen finds this hilarious, especially as the Shell garage sells cups with “I love Beaver” on them)
So far it is going well driving for hours every day. I was nervous Henry were going to find it hard sitting still but he is fine. He has his kindle to play games on and we make stops along the way. We go for runs and climbs whenever we stop for lunch.
The only thing I find difficult is that we can’t unpack all our things every stop because we would just pack them back up again. So, we keep wearing the same clothes over and over again. We have bought washing powder so when we stay in places with a washing machine we just do a load. The only problem with spending so long in the car is that Henry always sneak a sleep so then he doesn’t go to bed until late. So, me and Stephen have no time together just the two of us. But we spend all day as a family and it has been great.
Edit, we stopped at Indian Rock Art on the way as well. It was a museum with lots of trails around it where the Indians use to live. There were Indian wall carvings all over the rocks there and we climbed up and down trails to see them. It was the best we have seen.
