Mooching around Australia

We have been in Australia for over a week now already! Gosh were does the time go?!

The first four days we spent in Melbourne, we didn’t do anything special, just playing in playparks, eating great Greek food and walking around town. Henry and I also went to an “art and make” class. It was a drop-in place and it was really good. The theme of the day we were there was food, so we made food out of play-doh, painted pizza slices and created cupcakes out of foam. Henry had a great time, he loves “making” things.

Another day we went on a steam train called puffing Billy and you could sit in the windows while the train was going, it was pretty cool. We stopped in a cute old village on the way back and had some ice-cream.

From Melbourne we flew over to Tasmania. I have always wanted to go there and it is was good as I was hoping for. The weather was so much warmer there for starters than it was in Melbourne so we have been quite hot! The lodges we have stayed at have also been nice and we have seen lots of beautiful scenery.

In Tasmania we stayed at Freycinet Lodge and went to a tour called “wine glass bay cruise”. It took us on a catamaran around to Wineglass bay and we were hoping to spot some whales but we didn’t see any.  We did see seals, eagles and other birds but no whales or dolphins.

It was a lovely little tour and we had a good time.

On the way back to the lodge we decided to stop at one of the beaches. It was a little walk to get there but it was beautiful! The beach was pink and it had big boulders around it where the boys climbed. It was such a peaceful place all you could hear was the water going in and out with the waves. Australia is just as good as I remember it.

Henry keep saying that we needed to be careful so the kangaroos wouldn't come and lift our car because he had seen the sign!
