I can’t believe it! We were about 10meters away from the whales it was a massive, beautiful animal.
We went on a tour called the Tasman Island Cruise from Hobart. They took us on a bus for about an hour then we stopped and had a quick breakfast before getting into the speedboat. We sat at the back because it doesn’t bounce quite so much there.
And 5 minutes into our cruise we get a call on the walky talky that there has been whales spotted. So we speed up and go around the corner and after waiting for a couple of minutes it came up. We saw it coming up and down a few times and then swim away for a bit and then come back for another show. It was amazing! There were a five more in the water but we didn’t see them close up.
They took us around the area and showed us all the cliffs etc and then all of a sudden we were surrounded by dolphins! They swam all around our boat jumping and playing. It was so much fun. On the way back we saw seals sitting on the cliffs as well.We had some lunch and then the bus took us to an “un-zoo” which had the Tasmanian devil, kangaroos, wallaby and birds. It was pretty cool seeing the devils up close, evil little things. The kangaroos are my favourite, so cute. They were bigger than Henry and when we feed them they jumped all around us.
What really annoys me is when people i.e. tourist can’t behave! There were some tourists there today that behaved stupidly. They were pushing these kangaroos around to try to get a selfie! The same with the Tasmanian devils, they were nearly in the pen with the camera and he pushed me out of the way so he could get a better picture of them. Why can’t some people behave appropriate, show the animal some love and be grateful that we can see them the way we can?!
Anyway, we have seen whales, dolphins, seals, eagles, parrots, Tasmanian devils, kangaroos and so much more here.
I love Tasmania!
